At Music with Michaela, we believe in the magic of music to bring people together. Born in the quiet of a pandemic winter, what began as one mother’s hope to create connection through song has blossomed into a joyful, nurturing space for families.
Founded by Michaela—a local music teacher, performer, songwriter, and mama—our classes invite the littlest members of our community (and their grown-ups!) to slow down, sing, and share in the wonder of making music together.

About Michaela
20 Years of Musical Expertise
Michaela is not just a music teacher—she’s a storyteller, community builder, and proud mama of two who believes deeply in the power of music to connect and heal. A lifelong musician, Michaela’s journey has been guided by her love of song, creativity, and the joy of sharing music with others.
For over 20 years, she has taught private lessons in voice, piano, and ukulele, helping children and adults alike discover their own musical voices. Her approach is rooted in encouragement, curiosity, and a belief that music should always be a source of joy.
As a vocalist, performer, and songwriter, Michaela has been enchanting audiences with her soulful folk-inspired sound—performing both original music and heartfelt covers across New Jersey and New York City. Whether performing solo, in duos, or with her full band, her music reflects warmth, honesty, and emotional depth.
Beyond the stage, Michaela is a beloved live musician for private events, bringing her signature mix of sincerity and soul to weddings, cocktail hours, baby showers, and celebrations of all kinds. Her ability to make each moment feel personal and memorable has made her a favorite among families and event hosts alike.
During the isolation of the pandemic, Michaela turned challenge into creativity, founding Music with Michaela—a baby and me music program designed to bring families together through song. What began as a virtual offering has grown into a thriving in-person community, with weekly classes serving families in and around Montclair, NJ.
Now, as both an educator and mother, Michaela brings a renewed sense of purpose and tenderness to her teaching. Each class is an invitation to connect—to slow down, to sing, to share something real. Her work continues to grow from that simple intention: to make music that brings people closer, one song at a time.
"Music class with Michaela is something we look forward to every new season! My now almost 3 year old has been attending small group music classes with Michaela since he was just 6 months old! Each new semester brings a deeper love of music for him and I can’t appreciate her enough for this. She has a magical way about her, her calming voice, enthusiastic approach to music and patience, the patience working with littles. Classes are my son’s favorite part of the day. We can’t wait for spring semester to begin soon!"
